CCS Expansion

Someone is impacting the hearts and minds of our high school students for eternity, why shouldn’t it be a Christian classroom at CCS? After months, even years, of conversations and prayerful consideration, CCS will take the next steps in expanding the school’s ministry to include grades 9-12.

FAQ

What led to this decision?
The CCS Board of Trustees and Administration believes that the Lord has called CCS to impact the next generation through the important high school years in order to better equip today’s young people. Someone is impacting the hearts and minds of our kids for eternity, why shouldn’t it be us? After months, even years, of conversations and prayerful consideration, a presentation to the Session was made and support was given to take these next steps in expanding the school’s ministry to include grades 9-12.
What will characterize the Upper School?
CCS will offer a Christ-centered, Biblical worldview oriented 9th-12th grades with rigorous academics and ample opportunities for student development in spiritual growth, academic pursuit, missions, leadership, arts, athletics, technology, and more. The school will maintain its distinctive smaller environment targeting a high school size of approximately 200 students. CCS will continue its mission to partner with Christian families as it offers a modern learning high school experience. The school will prioritize affordability as it seeks to be cost-sensitive.
Where will the Upper School classrooms be located?
Property adjacent to the back entrance, 441 Northpark Drive, has been secured for renovation and expansion into an impressive high school facility. 443 Northpark Drive is under a contract option for future expansion. The high school facility will be well connected to our existing campus.
When will the facility and the Upper School open?
The plan is for the new facility to open in August of 2023. Consideration to current 8th-grade families will be given to determine the feasibility of offering a 9th-grade class within our current school structure and program in August of 2022. We will add one grade at a time.
How will the project be funded?
The school has secured a generous lead gift of 2 million dollars for phase one. The school will raise funds for projects to complement phase one, such as enhanced space for activities and athletics, and for phase two, increased classroom space in the same vicinity.
Will the project be funded by the POPC budget in any way?
The project will be fully funded and maintained by the school and outside of the scope of the church’s budget.
How will the school achieve cost-sensitive affordability for the Christian family?
A key driver in cost is facilities. The school will offer an attractive, well-maintained, top-notch facility adjacent to our campus. We will continue to enhance and invest in our current campus as the church maintains well-appointed facilities for the many ministries the school has and will continue to assist largely in related endeavors. The school will also be community-minded, including how it plans facility use. Tax dollars in our area have funded tennis, soccer, baseball, and community center facilities. College and University partnerships can offer access to much more. Rather than building those additional components on our existing campus, the school has already begun and will continue to work on key partnerships that allow our students access to the very best facilities. This is a common cost strategy in schools across the nation, and it has a plethora of benefits, including student experience but also cost-effectiveness, and tuition sustainability for families.
What will the academic program look like?
CCS will continue to offer Bible and traditional academics with both advanced coursework and learning support. Many elective offerings and strategic use of technology will enhance the overall academic experience. Modern learning approaches to scheduling and more will benefit today’s family.
Will the school offer a full Upper School experience?
Yes, CCS will continue its tradition of offering many opportunities for discipleship, missions, leadership, athletics, arts, technology, and more that foster a well-rounded education. Such opportunities will be carefully planned around interest with measures that fit into our philosophy and mission.
