Please find two important items regarding CCS athletics. First, a word from Coach Dan Boyce, a member of our History faculty and Head Football Coach. Coach Boyce is a blessing to our students and families and has a background that influences his coaching, teaching, and impact on our school community. Coach Boyce played football, basketball, and baseball in a small MAIS School. He went on to play football for Ole Miss, where he received several recognitions: Offensive player of the week, Defensive player of the week, and AP Southeastern Defensive lineman of the week. He was also President of the M Club. Coach Boyce has coached football for more than 25 years and has JV and Varsity championships in his tenure, as well as Conference Coach of the Year.
Also included is a graphic overview of athletics at CCS. You will find here the sports that we currently offer and those on our radar for the future. Note the total current participation numbers and the minimum number required for each team in the high school setting. CCS is committed to quality athletics and is already pursuing the right coaches, enhancements, and venues for high school athletics.
Sports and High School
Dear Parents,
As a Christian teacher and parent, I feel so blessed to serve at Christ Covenant School. Our Christ-centered mission to partner with parents and diligently share our faith makes our school both a wonderful learning and teaching experience.
For nearly thirty years, I have been privileged to serve young people in the classroom and on the athletic fields. I am convinced that co-curricular activities, when properly aligned with the school’s mission, can be a valuable piece of a student’s overall educational experience. We live in a society that tends to turn to shortcuts, but the old principles of commitment, dedication, and hard work so often integrated in athletics are as true today as ever.
Now I am in a position to help the rising generation reach their goals. We are committed to establishing a mission-centered athletic program, healthy team concepts, and ultimately honoring God in our efforts. We plan to strive for excellence in competition through the tried and true principles of commitment, dedication, and hard work. After all, it is these principles that will take our students to success long after the high school experience is completed.
In addition to the in-season instruction that is given by coaches, student-athletes must also condition their bodies throughout the year. Running, weightlifting, and plyometric training all play a part for high schoolers who wish to reach their highest athletic potential, and CCS is committed to offering these aspects that will enrich the athletic experience. We are interested in partnering with our student-athletes by helping them realize their athletic goals. Thank you for the opportunity to interact with your students both in the classroom and in the athletic arena. I am truly blessed each day by their enthusiasm and excitement. I take great satisfaction in helping them reach their highest potential.
We are looking ahead to continue our athletic success with JV and varsity athletics. More than anything, we know that the development athletes obtain through sports are life-long and worthy of our time, attention, and resources. We are investing in the hearts of our student-athletes and ultimately honoring God with their sportsmanship.
