Missions

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

- James 1:22

So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

- James 2:17
If our students only receive knowledge, we have failed. It is our conviction that we must offer opportunities for our students to take what they have learned in the classroom and apply it in how they choose to live their lives. It is not enough for us to merely hear and know the truth; as followers of Jesus, we must take the next step of obedience by allowing a biblical worldview to impact the way we live our lives. Below are local missions efforts we offer our students and families as a school community.

Local Mission Opportunities

Back to School Supply Bundles

Each summer, we offer our families the option to purchase a Back To School Supply Bundle through EPI. A portion of each purchase helps provide financial assistance to children attending school in Haiti with But God Ministries. This is one way we can provide our families the opportunity to leverage our collective purchasing power to have a kingdom impact. In 2019-2020 school year, CCS sponsored two children, Nerline Juste and Evenson Pascal. Through the sponsorship program, Nerline and Evenson receive tuition, uniform, books, additional supplies, and a few meals.

Babies with Books St. Dominics Hospital NICU Read-A-Thon

Students are recorded reading aloud while photos of the babies were shown in the background. The videos were played for NICU babies at the bedside during care times via laptop.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry effort of Samaritan’s Purse that collects shoeboxes filled with Christmas presents and delivers them to children all over the world as an evangelism tool to share the gospel of Christ. Each November, our school gym is transformed into the Central Mississippi Collection Center for Operation Christmas Child. Our entire school helps to collect shoeboxes and delivers them to the school gym to be processed and shipped. Some of our middle school students volunteer to help organize and process deliveries that arrive to our campus from all over the state.

Gateway Rescue Mission care packages for the HOmeless

The CCS student body works together to assemble personal care bags for donation to the Gateway Rescue Mission in Jackson.

retirement Home Visits

Senior citizens are often overlooked or forgotten by society at large. We know that every person is made in the image of Christ and has value. Every lower school class makes a trip to area retirement homes to perform songs and visit with residents. Our teachers are very intentional in preparing our students, and we view this as a simple way that we can be a blessing to others.

Middle School Local Mission Trips and Service Opportunities

Our Middle School grades each take one day in the semester to go and serve together with a local missions organization. Whether it is with Mission First, Mustard Seed, MadCAAP, or In His Steps, our students are afforded valuable service-learning experiences. Additionally, our students are presented volunteer opportunities to serve alongside ministries of Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church like Moses Basket, Connect 4, and Sonbeams.

Backpacks for Batson

Many patients at Batson Children’s Hospital are directly admitted from the emergency department or during a check up and their families are not prepared for an overnight stay. We filled backpacks with many items including toiletries, card games, toys, and a comfy pair of pajamas. Each Lower School class provides a backpack with wish list items for one boy and one girl at the age and average size of students in that grade.
